Microsoft Is Taking WGA To The Next Level
Since the Windows Genuine Advantage debut as a pilot on 9/2004 Microsoft is slowly making the program more annoying and intrusive.
In the beginning the WGA was an opt-in feature, and then slowly it became mandatory. Users who choose not to validate their copy of Windows can not download updates from Windows update (they still can download critical security updates via automatic update feature in Windows).
On Tuesday Microsoft will make WGA more intrusive and will use scare tactics to make users validate and purchase a legal copy. On 4/25/06 Microsoft will start WGA Notification in the US, UK, Australia, NZ and Malaysia. The WGA notification has been running as a pilot in several countries such as Norway, Taiwan, Sweden, Israel, Denmark, Poland and other countries.
The new WGA notification campaign will have a new logo for OEM and system builders, as seen here exclusively for the first time.

The new Windows Genuine Advantage Logo
Some users will begin to receive the update as early as Tuesday next week. When a user goes to WGA to validate and/or download things like IE 7.0 or Media player or take advantage of the Buy Local offers they may receive the notification if their copy is not genuine.
Up until now if you didn’t validate your copy of Windows nothing happened, but now with the WGA Notification, every time you reboot your computer, log-in and periodically (every hour or so) Windows will display a nag screen “reminding? you to validate your copy.

Log-in Nag Screen
From the first time users get the request to validate they have 14 days to comply. After 14 days they will not be able to download security upgrades such as IE7 and Windows Defender. Critical security updates will still be available like it is now.

Tooltip baloon nag message
Microsoft hopes that by notifying users that they are not eligible for all security upgrades it will drive more users to purchase a legal copy of Windows, and also report the counterfeit dealers that sold them their copy. In some cases Microsoft will give a free license to users who are victims of a high quality counterfeiting.
However there are good news for those who still don’t wish to validate their copy (and no it is not GEICO). There is a way for users to turn off the notifier but it may be turned back on in the future as they try to download the latest updates to IE or Media player or take advantage of the Buy Local offers through their local system builder.
And last note, if you think that this is the end, Microsoft is preparing enhanced notification and better VLK validations in Windows Vista.

I read in the web that just now something created a legitcheckcontrol.dll cracked v 1.5.526.0 for the new WGA like in others oportunities. It’s a war between Bil and the hackers. Who win ??
Regards.

Everyone is aware Apple doesn’t do this crap with OS X, yes?
Everyone knows Linux and FreeBSD are free, yes?
Everyone knows OpenOffice has really matured where for the most part you don’t need MS’s Office, which means you don’t need MS’s Windows, yes?
Eventurally Microsoft is going to push the hard core late adopters into looking at cheaper alternatives.
April 25th, 2006 at 12:09 am
and have you seen all the nasty “nags” they have put in vista. Not just WGA. Everything nag’s you for some security thing or another. I had to do a lot of research to find command line techniques to turn off all the horrible new “safety” features.
If you ask me, everything should have an option to turn it off under some control panel applet called “Power Users”
April 25th, 2006 at 1:19 am
Here’s my take, for what it’s worth. MS has forgotten how they found themselves on top in the first place–they were the low cost provider. Sure you can argue Linux and FreeBSD are free, but for non-technical users and large enterprises, that simply isn’t the whole story. However, at this rate MS will ‘nag’ themselves out of corporate graces, and that’s the whole ball of wax. People want to take what they use at work home, so they don’t have to learn new things. And schools want to teach what will be used at work, so the students can be more competitive in the global work-force market (at least smart foreign schools think like that, but that’s something else entirely). I don’t know if a flavor of Linux or FreeBSD or OSX will win the hearts and pockets of corporations in a couple years when they look to upgrade from XP/2003; however, they’ll probably start looking beyond MS. And good riddens. “If power corupts, then absolute power corupts absolutely.”

This is certainly Microsoft’s effort to ensure that users comply to their softwares. I don’t like the “naggy” pop-ups, but I can understand in order for users to be safe from security flaws, such pop-ups are essential to drive users mad, thus making them install the latest updates from Microsoft.
If you are not happy with it, you can always have the choice NOT to use Microsoft. Nonetheless, I think, besides intrusive, they are ensuring users buy the authentic softwares, and prevent of piracy.
April 25th, 2006 at 10:32 am
Great!! Another good reason to migrate to Linux.
April 25th, 2006 at 10:34 am
Josh… I am willing to bet money that, just like WPA, this nagwarewill NOT apply to the corporate version… only the home/smallbiz users will get nagged.
April 25th, 2006 at 8:58 pm
Putting javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck=’all’) in the adress bar beofre you click on Custom or Express, and then hitting enter, still defeats the WGA validation check in the Windows Update and Microsoft Update sites.
Just don’t be stupid: say no to KB905474 “Windows Genuine Bullshit Notification”
April 26th, 2006 at 5:58 am
im not buying a £100 XP version, just for the sake of validating,. why don’t they wait until vista ships, i’m putting the £100 to vista instead. Mircoturd is going down!
April 26th, 2006 at 6:00 am
make a special offer, like xp pro for £30 and home for £20, then i might consider it. and i bet lots of people will as well.
April 26th, 2006 at 3:18 pm
It’s sad to see all the comments thus far. What happened to integrity? If you want to use MS, the buy a legal copy. If you don’t want to pay, use Linux.
April 26th, 2006 at 4:53 pm
The article above says “There is a way for users to turn off the notifier…”
How do you turn off this notifier?? It got installed when I updated my windows yesterday, and I hadn’t known about it till I rebooted…

1.C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Windows Genuine Advantage\data
inside you will find a file called Data.dat open that file with notepad and
delete all the stuff in it… now save the file and set it as read only and restart pc.
2.system32 folder: May need to be in safemode to remove these files.
wgalogon.dll
spmgs.dll
wgatray.exe

Good trick “Bad Microfuks”. Deleting these files gets you rid of the popups, but it also removes the WGA update. Then when you go on Windows Updates it asks you verify you version.
I also tried replacing the LegitCheckControll DLL. I guess that’s the best thing to do for now. It skips the validation thing and allows you to download the WGA update and other updates.
April 27th, 2006 at 1:16 am
Don’t use the Internet web browser from Microsoft , but instaed use Opera or Firefox, then you don’t have probleems with the updates.
And live goes on.
April 27th, 2006 at 1:21 am
Almost There
how did you remove wgalogon.dll? it wont let me remove it… I booted in safe mode and it still wont let me remove it. any ideas? it says that its currently in use or something?
April 27th, 2006 at 1:56 am
im having the same problem as shutyourpiehole. I cant remove the WGAlogon.dll
I traced its path and its hooking on to winlogon.exe
All my attempts to unhook and/or kill the process were unsuccessful. Even if i do manage to unlock the process, i cant login or shutdown since the dll is hooked to the process which is killed.
(Note this happened before i figured out how to kill the entire process …. the only way i can do that is by booting into safemode and using a software named Unlocker to do it )
April 27th, 2006 at 2:31 am
WGA are the sucks
Thanks! the program “Unlocker” did the trick! just right click the file unlock it, then delete it. you dont have to be in safe mode to do it. after you delete it empty the recycle bin. then hurry up and restart the computer.
April 27th, 2006 at 4:13 pm
shutyourpiehole
I deleted the DLL right after the installation, before rebooting; once the WGA installation complete.
April 28th, 2006 at 9:09 am
works perfect.the bypass of the notification when you reboot.thanks
April 28th, 2006 at 7:22 pm
Bad Microfuks:
it works !!
thank you so much for the solution.
April 29th, 2006 at 12:51 am
anyone who accidentally install this can go undo by windows restore system. it will work!
April 29th, 2006 at 2:24 pm
Thanks for the trick, Bad Microfuks. At the end of that tho I wasn’t able to delete winlogon.dll (didn’t try safemode). What I did was scour thru the Registry for references to WGA, WGA logon, WGA Tray and WGA Services … and deleted ‘em all. After a restart I was able to delete that final dll in Windows. No errors, no WGAerrlog.txt in Win\TempSorry, no problems. I didn’t keep track of everything I deleted from the Registry — the only thing I backed up was the entry in “[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\WgaLogon].
Btw, I can be fearless in the Registry because I have a valid Ghost image … and I know how to use it.
April 29th, 2006 at 9:52 pm
I earlier attempted to verify that I had a legit copy of Windoze, which led to loads of hassle, of whether the serial number of my (admittedly grey import) laptop was legit or not.
After about an hour or more of jumping through MS hoops, to placate Microshaft, and filling in their web-forms, they still couldn’t say if my copy was legit or not. Given their “presumed guilty” approach, they’ve probably been preparing a case against me for the last couple of years.
Given which, I’ve refused to download the “Windows Advantage” fix. I know I paid for my license; I’ve got a receipt.
If they play silly bu99ers, I daresay it won’t be so very difficult to move to Linux. Golly gee, Mr. Fat Balmer.. I’d never have guessed that you wanted to drive all your users to install Linux? Life is full of surprises…

i bought microsoft’s windows xp pro about 2 years ago in ortder to avoid all that shit with cracking them all the time. you know what ? i still had to crack the original windows after the validation expired and had to call microsoft to get me a new serial. why ? because I cannot be bothered calling them for something i paied for, it is faster to hack for a new serial number or validation tricks.
to my view, microsoft is growing bigger day by day once people are stupid and go buy the software like i did. we do use windows for our children or wives, or people that cannot use linux, but buying something and still have to worry if you can use it, has a devil inside.
May 1st, 2006 at 5:39 pm
wow yes popups gone, i was going to boot into safe mode ande do the deleting but as i was looking through my documents i foound a registry backup from Ccleaner i merdged it hey presto the icon as gone from the desktop and no popups
May 1st, 2006 at 5:47 pm
before you get this wga make a backup of windows/system
and windows/system32
if you do this once every week when you do get the annoying pop ups just replace with the last backup you may lose a couple of .dll files but you can replace them

Hi, My solution is a part of Bad Microfuks’ - thanks him.
In Windows Xp Professional SP2 I renamed wgalogon.dll and wgatray.exe. That’s it. Reboot and enjoy !
May 2nd, 2006 at 11:31 pm
WOW “ME”,
That was amazingly simple. Just rename those two files and your good to go. Thanks
rename wgalogon.dll and wgatray.exe (c:\windows\system32\)
May 3rd, 2006 at 8:12 am
OK the machine I have exclusively for my use at home has a Micro$hit licence on it…. So when I buy another machine exclusively for my own use (Ie a laptop) shouldnt I be able to use the same copy? Micro$hit says no.
OK seriously… The day I can play games in Linux(any distro free or otherwise) i will never touch a micro$hit machine again. (except when im paid to at work)
May 4th, 2006 at 5:07 pm
Yes, rename those two files WORK!! But when I run window update, it ask me to install the program again. Is there anyway to bypass it and get other new critical update?
May 4th, 2006 at 9:31 pm
You know what, I think at this point in the game microsoft has done as much as possible to windows XP…updates are really useless even if they are critical. If you are worried that much I would suggest having a seperate program firewall so you don’t have to deal with the windows garbage anymore. Windows Vista better be cheap! I am done with all microsoft upates as of now hah. BTW great solution renaming those files!

May 6th, 2006 at 9:29 am
I fix the problem. My windows firewall couldn’t start, when I tried manually to start the service (Windows Firewall Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)) it gave ne error 10047. So I download winsock fix program, and it worked!!

This is a ridiculous way to push people away from microsoft products, the problem is linux is way beyond comprehension for normal computer users to get their heads round, thats why microsoft windows xp retails for over £100, they cornered a market and no other company can touch it or will ever be able to touch it, its a clever way of creating a monopoly on operating systems, i also read today that vista will come cmplete with a spyware search and destroy program, surely this will be putting companies such as spysweeper ect quite quickly out of buisness, why would u want to use spysweeper ect when windows provides a spyware seach, methinks mr Gates will be visiting a court again soon, like when he had to go about including WMP in Win XP, european courts ruled that they had to bring a completey flat version of Win XP onto the market with no video software amongst other things, Mr Gates is an evil greedy american, with his hands in his pockets and his thoughts deep inside his bank account, i cant afford over £100 quid for Win XP and they dont care, so, i will continue to use win XP illegally, and i will NEVER buy a microsoft product, im with the hackers, like the guy said above, they ALWAYS win !
May 7th, 2006 at 1:33 pm
In the Netherlands we call things like this “a cat and mouse game”. It means that Microsuck creates an validate check and then a hacker or someone like that creates an patch to fix it. This goes on and on, like a cat who can’t get a mouse.
But there’s still some problem. By fixing the Legicheck.dll you’re be able to DOWNLOAD software from the Microsuck website, BUT the f*ckers makes an check inside te SETUP of te downloaded software wich checks if you’ve got an GENUINE version of windows.
As far as I know ther’s no patch yet to tell the setup (e.g. Windows Defender) that yoú have an GENUINE version of Windows.

I have tried downloading it from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=049c9dbe-3b8e-4f30-8245-9e368d3cdb5a&DisplayLang=en
and i can dl it..
but as it’s installing it runs a check that comes back saying i dont have a “genuine” copy of WIN XP.. and then exits the install..
Can anyone help me out ? Tell me exactly what I have to do to get this Microcrap to work?

BOOHOO. FFS PEOPLE STOP WHINGING.
1. IF MICROSOFT IS SO CRAP WHY ARE YOU STILL WANTING TO USE THEIR PRODUCTS?
2. WGA IS ANNOYING? WELL GUESS WHAT THATS THE FOOKING POINT. DONT LIKE IT BUY A LEGIT COPY!
3. IF ITS TOO EXPENSIVE DEAL WITH IT OR USE SOMETHING ELSE. ID LOVE A 52 INCH PLASMA SCREEN ON MY BEDROOM WALL. BUT HEY I CANT AFFORD IT. I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THAT OR NICK ONE.
AND BEFORE ANYONE ASKS I HAVE A PIRATE VERSION TOO. BUT MY POINT IS YOU ARE CROOKS JUST LIKE ME AND HAVE NO RIGHT TO COMPLAIN!!!!!!
May 23rd, 2006 at 4:31 pm
A plasma screen is not a good analogy to ppl who need a windows computer to get things done. For the average person Linux is not a good alternative because of compatabilty. Look beyond your own life to how others need to deal with it.

Ok, We all have purchased Microsoft wonderful products!. Some have legal copies and some don’t. Micro ??? is always having some sort of lawsuite for using someone software in there OS. Right now the antivirus software company S is suing Micro??. China was offered a deal to kill piracacy. So Microsoft is trying to kill all non registered users and yet he is using copies of other software programs not developed by his company??? My math may be off?

After you download your windows media player ver 11 the file wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe its easy to crack. just open the file with winrar or winzip and extract all the files in a new folder you specified. remove the file legitlib.dll, and setup_wm.exe; After that double click all the remaining *.exe files (wmp11.exe, wmfdist11.exe, wmdexport.exe and umdf.exe). These process bypasses the genuine check done by media player. It works superbly, and you even don’t need any other fancy cracks. how you like it mail me carbapenem@gmail.com

Just out of interest, who actually downloaded my copy from “Millt”
I’d like to know rough numbers.
Kind Regards

June 9th, 2006 at 9:29 pm
Just to say, guys i`ve just installed MCE 2005 XP PRO, and the first thing i did was turn off Automatic Updates OFF!!! then installed the crack from this page first http://www.9down.com/story.php?sid=6675 then did an microsoft update, and voilla, up to date and no sign of stupid genuine avgantage updates from microsoft update, got over 200mb of updates and no nag screens, even IE7 and WMP11 work with no probs, now just going to ghost my c: drive, and next time microsoft bring a new update. and when they do i advise you dont install it, wait a few days then install the cracked version (jot down the KB Numbers and search for in google KBxxxxxx Crack)
In the past i purchused XP Home then Pro and if MicroCon is getting another £120 ish off me think again they have allready had nearly £200 off me
Why MicroCon Just didnt make the MCE interface a free download to genuine paying users like me or at least a £10-30 upgrade, we`ll never know.

Let me get this straight Daniel you are crying copyright infringement on a program that helps restore pirated software. That’s a good one.

Want my personal opinion? being that i was a intern at Peoplesoft before post oracle. i know for a fact, if a user feels “secure” with microsofts “so called” security patches and “critical updates” they really need to decode ntdl with round robin and realise after SP1 for windows XP WGA is all microsoft was focused on. SP2 provide 3 official features. the blocking of NETBIOS outside to wan, a fix for Microsoft OFFICE products and further WGA protection from further VLK thievery. what the un-knowing public doesnt realise is the post moredom about it. SP2 also provides 2 sub non-public features. one by forcing the enabling of SNMP on LAN and WAN it allows anyone (including MICROSOFT Validation Team) to look at critical system information (including Serial number data and installed software) not to mention further more stopped anyone from running certian lines of machine code known to relate to some software cracking and decrypting products. but the downfall with that is #1 some legit. software uses the same line of code to decode there executables to allow function, ammediatly NTDL will kill the running process in a attempt to stop the program from running. my point is, screw post SP2, Kill the ctivation/and wga and forget all you so called “updates” btw, Firefox and Videolan ALL THE WAY!

HOW TO MAKE XP PRO CORPORATE “VOLUME LICENSE” “ILLEGAL” TO APPEAR AS AN OEM OR RETAIL VERSION” LEGAL VERSION
YOU MUST HAVE ACCESS TO A COMPUTER SCHOOL,LIBRARY,WHATEVER ( I DON’T RECOMMEND COPYING YOUR EMPLOYER’S OR YOUR MOM’S)
VALID OEM OR RETAIL KEY.
MUST HAVE
1. ACCESS TO THE ABOVE MENTIONED COMPUTERS
2. ACCESS TO THE REGISTRY(REGEDIT.EXE) ON SAID COMPUTER
3. USB THUMB DRIVE
HERE WE GO
1ST THING WERE GOING TO DO IS CREATE A BATCH FILE TO GET THE KEYS
>>>>>>>>>>>>
@echo off
echo.
echo “getting the three registry keys needed”
echo.
cd C:\ &md regkeys
echo “getting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Registration”
regedit /E C:\regkeys\iexplore.reg “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Registration”
echo.
echo “saved to c:\regkeys\ as iexplore.reg”
echo.
echo “getting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion”
regedit /E C:\regkeys\windcurrver.reg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
echo.
echo “saved to C:\regkeys\ as windcurrver.reg”
echo.
echo “getting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion”
regedit /E C:\regkeys\oem.reg “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion”
echo.
echo “saved to C:\regkeys\ as oem.reg”
echo.
echo “go to C:\regkeys the files should be there”
pause
>>>>>>>
OK OPEN THE NOTEPAD APPLICATION HIGHLIGHT THE ABOVE TEXT
EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN >>>>>>>> AND >>>>>
RIGHT CLICK COPY AND PASTE IN THE NOTEPAD NOW CLICK>> FILE >>SAVE AS GetRegKeys.bat
NOTE THAT BATCHFILE CAN BE RAN FROM ANY LOCATION ON THE THE COMPUTER YOU WILL END UP WITH A FILE ON DRIVE c:\ (c:\REGKEYS)
COPY THE FOLDER TO YOUR THUMBDRIVE AND DELETE THE FILE c:\regkeys OFF OF THE COMPUTER YOU GOT THEM FROM.
PUT THE THUMBDRIVE IN YOUR POCKET NOW AND LEAVE!!!
YOU SHOULD HAVE THREE REGISTRY FILES NOW IN THE REGKEYS FOLDER
(CONTENTS OF REGKEYS FOLDER)
iexplore.reg
windcurrver.reg this file needs to be edited READ BELOW
oem.reg this file needs to be edited READ BELOW
OK ASSUMING YOUR HOME NOW LETS CONTINUE!
NEXT EDIT WINDCURRVER.REG
(windcurrver.reg)>>>>>>this file needs editing right click the windcurrver.reg file on the desktop click edit
it should look like this when your done
>>>>>
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion]
“ProductId”=”xxxxx-XXX-xxxxxxx-xxxxx”
>>>>>>>
NEXT EDIT OEM.REG
(oem.reg)>>>>>>this file needs editing right click the oem.reg file on the desktop click edit
it should look like this when your done
>>>>>
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion]
“SubVersionNumber”=”"
“CurrentBuild”=”1.511.1 () (Obsolete data - do not use)”
“InstallDate”=dword:4496c793
“ProductName”=”Microsoft Windows XP”
“RegDone”=”"
“SoftwareType”=”SYSTEM”
“CurrentVersion”=”5.1″
“CurrentBuildNumber”=”2600″
“BuildLab”=”2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158″
“CurrentType”=”Uniprocessor Free”
“CSDVersion”=”Service Pack 2″
“SystemRoot”=”C:\\WINDOWS”
“SourcePath”=”D:\\I386″
“PathName”=”C:\\WINDOWS”
“ProductId”=”XXXXX-XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXX”
“DigitalProductId”=hex: BIG STRING OF NUMBERS
“LicenseInfo”=hex: BIG STRING OF NUMBERS
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WPAEvents]
“OOBETimer”=hex:ff,d5,71,d6,8b,6a,8d,6f,d5,33,93,fd
“LastWPAEventLogged”=hex:d6,07,06,00,01,00,13,00,0f,00,33,00,27,00,a5,01
>>>>>>>
WHERE IT SAYS BIG STRING OF NUMBERS (I REMOVED THEM FOR OBVIOUS REASONS) IT WILL BE JUST WHAT IT SAYS A BIG STRING OF NUMBERS.
(THIS KEY IS WHAT MICROSCUM SCANS FOR ON WGA - WINDOWS UPDATE - WINDOWS DOWNLOAD - BETA-INSTALL - EXTRAS INSTALL)
NEXT CREATE A REGISTRY FILE TO START THE WORKAROUND WITH YOUR COMPUTER
>>>>>>>>
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
“start”=”C:\\start.bat”
>>>>>
OK OPEN THE NOTEPAD APPLICATION HIGHLIGHT THE ABOVE TEXT
EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN >>>>>>>> AND >>>>>
RIGHT CLICK COPY AND PASTE IN THE NOTEPAD NOW CLICK>> FILE >>SAVE AS start.reg
NEXT WE WILL CREATE 3 MORE BATCH FILES THE PROCEDURE IS BASICALLY THE SAME AS start.reg
>>>>>>>>>>>>
@echo off
cd C:\
start /min tweak.bat
>>>>>>>
OK OPEN THE NOTEPAD APPLICATION HIGHLIGHT THE ABOVE TEXT
EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN >>>>>>>> AND >>>>>
RIGHT CLICK COPY AND PASTE IN THE NOTEPAD NOW CLICK>> FILE >>SAVE AS start.bat
>>>>>>>>>>>>
@echo off
echo “YOU HAVE TO BE ADMIN FOR THIS TO WORK”
echo “WAITING FOR THE XP TO SETTLE BEFORE EXECUTING”
sleep 35 &
REGEDIT /s oem.reg
EXIT
>>>>>>>
OK OPEN THE NOTEPAD APPLICATION HIGHLIGHT THE ABOVE TEXT
EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN >>>>>>>> AND >>>>>
RIGHT CLICK COPY AND PASTE IN THE NOTEPAD NOW CLICK>> FILE >>SAVE AS tweak.bat
>>>>>>>>>>>>
@echo off
echo.
echo “SHOWING WHAT’S BEING DONE”
echo.
echo “copying sleep.exe to C:\windows\system32″
@copy sleep.exe C:\windows\system32
echo “copying tweak.bat to C:\
@copy tweak.bat C:\
echo “copying start.bat to C:\”
@copy start.bat C:\
echo “copying oem.reg to C:\”
@copy oem.reg C:\
echo “registering the following keys”
echo “iexplorekey.reg”
echo “windcurrver.reg”
echo “start.reg”
REGEDIT /S iexplorekey.reg
REGEDIT /S windcurrver.reg
REGEDIT /S start.reg
@pause
>>>>>>>
OK OPEN THE NOTEPAD APPLICATION HIGHLIGHT THE ABOVE TEXT
EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN >>>>>>>> AND >>>>>
RIGHT CLICK COPY AND PASTE IN THE NOTEPAD NOW CLICK>> FILE >>SAVE AS install.bat
ok now you should have the following
iexplore.reg
windcurrver.reg
start.reg
oem.reg
start.bat
tweak.bat
install.bat
create a folder name it whatever you want
put all the files in the folder
iexplore.reg
windcurrver.reg
start.reg
oem.reg
start.bat
tweak.bat
install.bat
sleep.exe
OK YOUR READY TO INSTALL
DOUBLE CLICK INSTALL.BAT
A COMMAND PROMPT WINDOW WILL POPUP
YOU SHOULD SEE THE FOLLOWING OUTPUT
“SHOWING WHAT’S BEING DONE”
“copying sleep.exe to C:\windows\system32″
1 FILE(S) COPIED
“copying tweak.bat to C:\
1 FILE(S) COPIED
“copying start.bat to C:\”
1 FILE(S) COPIED
“copying oem.reg to C:\”
1 FILE(S) COPIED
“registering the following keys”
“iexplorekey.reg”
“windcurrver.reg”
“start.reg”
press any key to continue
JUST TO MAKE SURE YOU DID EVERYTHING RIGHT
GO TO DRIVE C:\ AND SEE IF oem.reg start.bat tweak.bat are there (they should be)
go to C:\windows\system32 AND SEE IF sleep.exe IS THERE (IT SHOULD BE)
THAT’S IT LOG OFF AND LOG BACK ON NO REBOOT IS NEEDED
WHEN XP COMES UP YOU SHOULD SEE THE COMMAND WINDOW MINIMIZED IN THE TASKBAR.
WHEN XP COMES UP RIGHT CLICK THE TASK BAR CLICK TASK MANAGER
CLICK THE PROCESSES TAB AND YOU SHOULD SEE SLEEP.EXE AS A PROCESS IT WILL DISSAPEAR IN 35 SECONDS
AFTER IT DISSAPEARS
CLICK START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM LOOK AT THE PRODUCT ID BELOW “REGISTERED TO” YOU SHOULD NOW SEE THE PRODUCT ID
OF THE XP YOU GOT IT FROM AND YOU WILL BE LEGIT FOR WGA (AS LONG AS THE COMPUTER YOU GOT IT FROM WAS LEGIT)
AND MICROSCUM DOES NOT FIND OUT ABOUT THIS AND MAKE THE KEYS TAMPER-PROOF.
THE FUNNY PART OF THIS WHOLE THING IS 8 FILES TOTALING 134KB JUST WIPED OUT ALL MICROSOFT’S EFFORTS TO CONTROL XP
ANOTHER FUNNY THING ABOUT THIS IS THE XP CORP NON ACTIVATION STAYS IN PLACE SO YOU CAN REINSTALL XP-CORP THEN REINSTALL
THIS WORKAROUND OR CHANGE ALOT OF HARDWARE AND NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ACTIVATION.
