Trying to install SP2

Hi guys i tried to install SP2 but it says my cd-key is not genuine, i looked in the sticky thread but it seems to only be to DOWNLOAD the updates, not install them, well i'd like some input thanks guys!

If you use a "leaked" product key (a product key that is known to be available to the general public) for the deployment of Microsoft Windows XP across multiple computers (a Volume Licensing installation), you may not be able to install Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) or SP2 or automatically obtain updates from the Windows Update Web site.

You'll need to change your product key.

So i MUST have a valid cd-key to install sp2? i need it for windows media connect for my xbox 360

Yes, you need a valid product key to install SP2 (and SP1)

There's really no way around that ? like a cracked sp2 setup program?

just replace LegitCheckControl.dll in your C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder with the one from the link below.

This way doesn't work for me Sad

A couple of notes:

- I never had the file in the first place
- This is the first time I tried to get sp1 and 2

Any suggestions would be great.

Mate why don't you try to apply autopatches? Easy to find...

What windows version is it?

If its windows XP Pro Corp, i have the perfect thing for you i put together.
