Microsoft: Vista Will Not Include Monad

Close on the heels of word that proof-of-concept viruses had been written for Monad — the command shell that was to be included in Microsoft’s Latest News about Microsoft forthcoming operating system Vista — Redmond said its next OS will not ship with the software.

The news comes after an Austrian hacker Latest News about hacker published instructions for developing viruses for the Monad command shell just eight days after release of the Vista beta code. In its beta version, the operating system did include the scripting shell.

Eric Berg, the software giant’s director of product management, has made clear that, while Monad might be included in future versions of various Microsoft products, it will not ship with Vista.
