Windows Messenger Abuse Button Is UK-Only

Windows Live Messenger has added a “report abuse” icon to their instant messaging program.

The button, which was added last week to the UK version of Messenger only, allows users that suspect their messages may be coming from sex offenders to click the button and link directly to an online police service.

The new icon is the result of a partnership between Microsoft and the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Center (CEOP), an English organization focused on tackling child sex abuse. Microsoft currently has no plans to implement a similar icon in the US program, a spokesperson said.
