Verizon takes over Microsoft TV code

Unhappy over the memory footprint of applications and delays in rolling them out, Verizon has ditched some of Microsoft’s television software and has chosen instead to write its own. The Wall Street Journal reports that Verizon was adamant about meeting deadlines as it struggles for a foothold in the TV market dominated by cable and satellite operators. When it decided that Microsoft couldn’t meet the timetable, Verizon deployed engineers of its own from Texas and India to work on the software, most of which was then rolled out on time.
